PRGF (plasma rich in growth factor), also known as the brand name “Endoret”, makes a radical difference to the recovery period after a dental implant has been placed as it accelerates the healing process remarkably.
PRGF and dental implants
When a dental implant is placed, a small wound is made in both the gum and the bone below. The body’s natural response to any post-operative site is to produce proteins to start the healing process. We use PRGF to isolate these proteins from a small sample and apply them to the wound to accelerate the healing process.
How is PRGF prepared?
To produce the PRGF we simply take a small sample of the patient’s blood and prepare it in a specific way. This creates a concentrated mix of product, which our surgeon will apply towards the end of the treatment to kick-start the healing process.
Does PRGF work well?
We have found that it makes a massively positive difference to the healing process of the body. As well as being used by dentists, it is also used in maxillofacial, cardiac, plastic and reconstructive surgery and has been tried and tested for years.
